FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 

Q.    How do I know how much mix I will need for my party?  

A.    We recommend you use 8 oz servings in most cases. This is the same amount as a margarita glass and will eliminate waste, especially for parties where there will be children. We usually budget four servings per guest as an average, which will vary whether or not there are other beverages provided. Margarita mixes and Hurricane mix make 5 gallons or 80 servings and all other flavors make 3 gallons or 48 servings. Based on our experience, we will suggest the approximate amount for your party, but we recommend having extra mix on hand if more is needed. Any unopened mixes can be returned when we pick up the machine after your event.

 

Q.    Does Dr. Freeze provide the alcohol if requested? 

A.    NO. We cannot under any circumstance provide alcohol for your event. It is the customer’s responsibility to purchase any alcohol. We can provide the recipe amounts to place alcoholic drinks in the machine, and we will show you proper mixing procedures. It remains the customer’s responsibility to use our equipment in a responsible manner, protect against drunk driving and prevent underage drinking.

 

Q.    Do I need to provide ice?

A.    No, the machine freezes the mix within 20-60 minutes, depending on the temperature of the water used in the batch. The machine will keep the mix at the proper serving temperature as long as additional mix is added at the proper time, and we will review this procedure upon delivery.

 

Q.    Can I pick up the machines instead of having them delivered?

A.    No. These machines are very expensive as well as heavy, so we will deliver them and place them wherever necessary upon delivery. The machines require 110 power, regular household current, and at least a 15 amp breaker to operate. The use of an extension cord is not recommended unless it is a heavy duty cord provided by Dr. Freeze. The machines are delivered on a heavy duty rolling cart for your convenience, and can be moved if necessary. Keep in mind the equipment you are renting is EXPENSIVE, and you are responsible for any damage. You will be asked to sign a form upon delivery after operating instructions are reviewed with you that you will use our equipment in a responsible and safe manner and will be held liable for any damage to the equipment, intentional or otherwise.  Failure to sign this form will result in cancellation of delivery and loss of deposit.

 

Q.    How much notice do you need for a reservation? 

A.    This varies, but we recommend a minimum of two weeks notice, particularly for weekend rentals and holidays. We will make every effort to accommodate short notice, but we strongly suggest getting reservations in as soon as possible. There are instances when we can do same day deliveries with no advance notice, but waiting too long to make your reservation could leave you with no machine. Special events, holidays and multiple day rentals will require a $50 non-refundable deposit, and we reserve the right to charge a deposit for any reservation should we deem necessary.

 

Q.    Do I have to use Dr. Freeze mix in the machine?

A.    YES! Our mixes are formulated specifically for our machines, and deviating from proper recipes can cause mix not to freeze or freeze solid, causing damage to the machine and delaying you from enjoying our delicious drinks. The freezing process is based on proper adjustment of the machine and precise sugar content in the mix. DON’T MESS WITH PERFECTION!

 

Q.    How long after delivery will drinks be ready?  

A.    Starting with room temperature water and mix, it takes 45 minutes to an hour to be ready to serve. You can speed up this process by having sufficient quantities of water pre-chilled in the refrigerator. This can shorten the process to 15 to 25 minutes. If you are adding alcohol, it helps to chill this as well. All rental prices include 5 gallon mixing containers, and we suggest you refrigerate any mix that does not immediately fit in the machine until ready for use.

 

Q.    Can I use the bar mixes without alcohol to make virgin daiquiris?  

A.    All our fruit flavors, kid’s flavors and cappuccinos taste great without alcohol, but we only recommend strawberry daiquiri and pina colada for use without alcohol. The remaining bar mixes, such as the margarita mixes, rum runners, etc require alcohol for proper taste. The strawberry daiquiri and pina colada mixes are easily our most popular flavors because they taste great either way.

A.    We feel a satisfied customer is our best advertisement, and if we do our job right, not only will you be satisfied, but we will receive referrals from you and your guests. With this in mind, we ask every customer who books an event how they heard about us. If we receive just 5 referrals from your party or have 5 people tell us they were referred by you, you are eligible for one FREE basic rental.
